Pathways

Design

1.    Do not add another layer of planning.

2.    Redo this while importing outline topics and elements and implementations.

The problem

To rewrite pathways with criteria

1.    Simplicity

2.    To make transparent the process of shared discovery and realization with balance of cognition and emotion (especially pleasure and pain).

Meta: to review and implement design principles

Design and its levels

What is design?

To design is to formulate a plan or concept in response to a need—of any kind but typically for an object, process, or system.

Designing may be

1.    Informal, small scale, ‘on the fly’, or

2.    Large scale—pertaining to an organization, systematic, and explicit.

A model of design

The need or occasion.

Solution ideas—reflection, creation, criticism (repetition).

Trial implementation—first attempts: theoretical, experimental, models.

Analysis, improvement, early to final reviews.

Execution.

What are the elements of the pathways

Limitlessness

Experientiality

The word ‘experientiality’ and ‘minding’ (revise the way of being - master.docm) Experientiality—its dimensions, being at one and its meaning, perception, cognition, emotion, choice, action

Categories

Experiential being, becoming and nonbeing (concept and object = transformation of experience vs transformation in intension)

Meaning and ethics to be implicit

Comment 1.  Ethics is about thinking, feeling, doing as best we can while discovering / creating the meaning of ‘best’.

Comment 2.  This is to be added to the chapter on ethics and meaning.

Pathways

What are pathways

For beings that are (thought or felt) incomplete in terms of the real, including value—

Definition 01.       A pathway is a way to completion in one or both of (i) experiencing of completion in the immediate (ii) a way of experience, reflection, and action toward real completion (given the developments so far, the complete is the ultimate).

Here, then, a path intends to realize the aim of the way of being—is shared discovery and realization of the ultimate in, for, and from the immediate.

The idea of path is flexible in that it is relative to knowledge or feeling of completeness. One who is content by nature, circumstance, or personal history is in some ways already realized. However, the interest is all beings and, so, pathways are voluntary and shared discovery and realization of the ultimate.

Design: pathways

Metadesign: how to design (pathways)

The approach is to adapt general ‘design principles’.

Meta-meta

But from where do ‘principles’ come?

1.    Typically a design is a mix of adaptation of old designs and design elements and creation (old designs are pathways for the way, traditional pathways, and the content of the way so far; explicit reference to human knowledge is not made here because it is already made in the document so far).

2.    It usually begins with seeing a need, which may be new or ongoing (here, it is the ongoing need to improve the way, particularly its pathways).

3.    From seeing the need, the on-off or ongoing process of coming up with a solution is interaction among (i) thought – synthesis (‘creativity’), analysis (‘criticism’) (ii) experiment (models – physical – graphic – computer, trials) (iii) review and improvement (repetition of i and ii) until satisfactory (iii) writing a satisfactory account.

Meta: the approach (design principles)

Seeing the need

1.    The way developed as a system of ideas (the real metaphysics etc)—

a.     About the universe and its origins and reasons for existence;

b.    And about beings and their place in and relation to the universe.

c.     With ground in western and eastern thought—which, in finding the universe and beings ultimate as realization of all possibility (and thus our cosmos as an ‘infinitesimal speck’), far exceeded received extant views.

2.    I saw that—

a.     Though many (human) beings experience themselves as limited and in a limited world (especially as paradigmatic in their culture), both are limitless,

b.    And as suggested by other cultures, there ought to be a way to realize—a pathway in, for, and from our world and being—to limitlessness,

c.     Which is confirmed by the system of ideas, which also suggests and may help define pathways and their elements.

Defining the need
The context

The way and its aim.

Received

Our world, especially the world of today.

Received approaches to negotiating the world and the future—traditional through the present—and their background.

The way of being

Analysis of the received limitations of the received approaches, especially of the idea that definiteness of kind in metaphysics, and criteria in epistemology and in choice (value) should be paramount and uniform.

The real metaphysics and its conclusions regarding these issues.

The need

Implement the aim of the way as a pathway.

From the way, pathways will have definite elements.

From our incompleteness, the pathway will be negotiated and shared, and there may be leaders and elements of received ways, but no a priori ultimate authority.

Review in terms of above

Analysis, improvement, and review

In the core path, so as to be effectively immersed in the way, so far as reasonable, elements shall be implicit.

Explicit reference to elements shall be (i) as efficient and as reminder to review (ii) the content of the way so far.

Design: structure with further elements

The immediate and the ultimate are a continuum.

Immediate – emphasis local in time and space

Immediate and ultimate as one – yoga

The two sides of yoga are the two sides of experience – meditative (subjective, inner, of mind, immersive) and physical (objective which also has a representation of the meditative, outer as metaphor for world and body, instrumental)

Attitude, pleasure – pain – cognition – intelligence

Becoming one’s highest self – overcoming limited self (in balance with communal morality)

And yoga has more than one aspect – practice of the disciplines of yoga, practice to action, and yoga in action including immersion

Individual and community – emphasis: beings

Realizing – sharing (co-action, the strong helping others), therapy, negotiating, leadership as guide and aid (perhaps charismatic but not authoritarian), communal mind, elements of traditions

Communal action – therapy, work and productivity (economic, political, knowledge, shared understanding of realization), relationships

Work on the categories

Work on a program of action defined in the categories (summarized under ‘universal’)

Other elements

Comment 4.  Reflect, import

Ultimate – emphasis universal in time and space

The categories – emphasis: being

Comment 5.  This will be developed in parallel with the re-development of the categories with representation of the categories here being what is essential to efficient treatment of the pathways.

Program – with timelines for the different dimensions (categories)

Comment 6.  Other elements – implementation: institute
